Today as we celebrate mothers across the world, I thought to myself, I need to remind my mama bears of a few things. With the onset of social media, it is easy to get wrapped up in what you think you should be doing as a mother. I know I do- all too often. So, here goes:
Forgive yourself for all of your shortcomings.
Learn to say no.
Stop comparing yourself to other women.
Take more naps.
Stop judging other mothers.
Buy the extra bottle of wine.
Stop explaining your decisions.
Be more confident.
Take more me time. Don't feel guilty.
Get some professional photos taken of JUST you. Buy a new outfit for the occasion.
Find a woman or a group of women who will always uplift you- both professionally and personally.
Stop holding on to old clothes that don't fit. They NEVER will fit again and even if they do, you deserve the latest style. Instead find that lipstick or get that haircut that makes you feel like a million bucks.
Take compliments without saying something negative in response.
Trust yourself more.
Eat, sleep, and vacation well.
Stop obsessing about aging. It's a blessing.
Identify your favorite physical asset and show it off or highlight it as much as possible.
In general, buy less- especially for your children.
Today, take one or two of these and own it. EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. I plan to take more naps (they are SO underrated) and more me time. Thanks to my BFF Antonia who inspired me to take a solo trip. The planning has begun. Stay tuned!
Happy Mother's Day to the ones have who hold babies in their arms and for those who hold them in their hearts. Happy Mother's Day to those who have bonus kids or fur babies. Happy Mother's Day to those who look after children as if they are their own. Happy Mother's Day! 🌸💐🌼
